Worst Car Repair Experience Ever !!!  Posted on 10-Mar-2024

On 16/1/2024, brought my car for repair in front rotor, brake pads and radiator. I specifically asked Jin if the bumper needed to be removed for the radiator change but was told by him that it need not be removed. However I still informed and highlighted to him that the bumper was siliconed at 2 areas. After repair, I only realised that the bumper had been dismantled the day after I collected my car.
I called Jin to highlight that the bumper was not aligned properly. He said to bring the car back anytime for them to rectify.

He claimed it was a "New" Mechanic that dismantled the bumper. Bearing in mind that at no point, was he even apologetic, had an attitude and it was always somebody's actions that caused it.

On 19/1/2024, the attempt to rectify my bumper alignment was made even more disappointing, as the bumper mounting was cracked/damaged and still not aligned. These were not noticed initially as they were plastered with tape that I was advised to remove 2 days later. I had texted and called Jin but there was no reply. I texted Jin my displeasure but was ghosted.

I was very disappointed that I texted boss DX my horrible encounter. Following was my remark to him:
"All I can say is that my bumper was aligned when I brought the vehicle in. I would understand if it was removed for the repair. I would understand if effort to reinstate was done properly. I cannot accept the return of car in a different state as far as the bumper alignment is concerned. I also cannot accept when I am ghosted and not get any reply to resolve this less than pleasant experience. I also cannot accept that one can text me to ask for a good review, even after not carrying out a basic duty as a front liner of 1service."

DX was excellent in service recovery, and I was quite impressed that he was so committed and told me that only one day was needed to rectify my issue. On top to that, in order to minimise the inconvenience caused, a courtesy car will be provided. That is excellent service recovery, I must say.

So I arranged with Jin and brought my car in on 1/2/2024 morning when the workshop opened in order to allow them to have a full day to rectify. Was advised that I will be updated when to collect my car. No mention about a courtesy car, and not to mention the non-apologetic stance and the non-ownership of the whole matter attitude. I did not mention to him about the courtesy car as I had planned to head into JB in a friend's car and expected to collect my car in the evening.

I never heard from Jin until I had to chase him at 5pm, only to be told it will not be ready to collect that same day. Reason being that there is insufficient workers resources to handle my rectification. Again, it is always somebody else's fault and flabbergasted as to why this was not even checked in the first place and no priority given at all.

In the end, I only got my car back on Saturday 3/2/2024. That was 3 days that I did not have the use of my car and caused me tremendous inconveniences. All these could have been avoided if one had bothered to checked on their resources and arranged for a later date when resources are available.

Best part was, the end result of the bumper rectification was not even done, just hastily puttied, sprayed, and double-sided taped. I am not kidding you. These took 3 days for a horrendous result! I am now left with a hazy, blurred and misaligned bumper. The bumper popped out of position 3-4 days after the "Proper rectification", due to the inferior job that was done.

It seems that this experience of mine is exaggerated. But this IS the ordeal that I went through. Despite all these, I was told that my standards may be too high. I think otherwise as there are no standards to begin with at all.

Definitely gave me a lasting impression and I would NEVER patronise them if they were the last car repair shop around.

In any case if one is looking for a car workshop, be aware. What I went through was not only Jia Lat. It was JIN JIA LAT!!!

I recently had an extremely disappointing experience with 1 Car Service Workshop, and I feel compelled to share my negative review. I brought my Mercedes S300 to this workshop for a gearbox overhaul and to have the transmission control unit replaced. Unfortunately, my entire experience with this mechanic was an absolute nightmare.

Firstly, I had to endure a long wait of five days from June 22nd to June 26th before I could finally collect my car. I was already frustrated by the delay, but little did I know that the worst was yet to come. As soon as I scanned my car, I was shocked to discover numerous faults that had not been addressed. When I confronted the chief mechanic about this oversight, his response was baffling. He casually mentioned that they don't usually perform tests after repairs. Are you kidding me? How can any reputable car service workshop neglect such a crucial step?

Furthermore, I have attached the invoices which clearly indicate the services I paid for, including the gearbox overhaul and transmission control unit replacement. It is evident that these services were not properly executed, as evidenced by the persisting faults in my vehicle. (Attach the invoices to the review, if possible).

To make matters worse, when I expressed my dissatisfaction and questioned why proper testing was not conducted, I received an irresponsible and aggressive reply from Moses, a supervisor at the workshop, via WhatsApp. His lack of concern, dismissive attitude, and confrontational tone only reinforced my belief that this workshop lacks the basic principles of customer service and accountability. Frustrated with the lack of testing and the unresolved issues, I decided to return my car to the workshop the very next day. After driving for just 24 hours, it became evident that my car was still experiencing jerky movements. This time, the mechanics diagnosed the issue as a faulty ignition coil. However, their proposed solution was nothing short of a rip-off. They quoted me an exorbitant price that was way above the market rate to replace not just the problematic coil, but all the ignition coils.

I was utterly appalled by their unprofessional conduct and the attempt to take advantage of my situation. It is clear that 1 Car Service Workshop lacks integrity and is more interested in making a quick profit than providing reliable and trustworthy service. I strongly caution anyone considering any form of repairs at this establishment. Save yourself the headache, frustration, and unnecessary expenses by seeking assistance elsewhere. This workshop is not deserving of your time, money, or trust.

I sincerely hope that this review, along with the attached invoices and the irresponsible and aggressive reply from Moses, serves as a warning to others who may be considering using 1 Car Service Workshop. It is crucial to find a reputable and trustworthy mechanic who will prioritize your car's safety and provide quality service. Unfortunately, 1 Car Service Workshop fell far short of these expectations, and I would strongly advise against entrusting them with your vehicle.

1) The overhaul of a gearbox typically takes 3-5 working days to complete. We managed to accomplish this within the standard timeframe for your car.

2) The ignition coil you mentioned is part of the engine, not the gearbox. The service you initially requested was specific to the gearbox. When we handed over the vehicle, the ignition coil was in working condition. When you came back and brought our service advisor our for a test drive, you were also not able to replicate the jerks and vibrations.

3) It's standard practice to recommend changing all ignition coils once one starts failing, as they tend to have similar lifespans. That being said, we are more than willing to accommodate your preference to change only the faulty one.

4) To show our commitment to customer satisfaction, we offered you a discount for the ignition coil replacement, with a full waiver of labor charges. We believe in transparent pricing, and we're committed to offering you fair and competitive rates.

5) From our end, after the overhaul, the gearbox should now be operating without issues.

6) We also stand by our workmanship and assure you that we will honor any issues related to the gearbox service we provided.

My First Visit. I was skeptical at first. $2300 later. I am convinced they are very good. I willingly paid the amount knowing the same repairs would have taken 3 times longer to do and 2 times as expensive and probably fitted shoddily elsewhere. In less than 4 hours I replaced on my Audi A6 C7: - engine and gearbox mounts - top control arm assemblies - lower arm assemblies - lower arm ball joints - front brake pads and discs - alignment Only one thing their 3rd Party Alignment Contractor used the wrong specs on my car. Moses and DX were delightfully responsive. M gave a breakdown of repair items and exact costs. That was helpful for me to decide what needed to be done. His diagnosis of the humming problem was accurate and properly fixed. Was my first visit to them and a good experience. - Seven One

Came here to replace the lifter motor for my window. Communicated with Dao xiong, got prompt replies, and a quotation before I even dropped my car. Did a early morning key drop. Moses followed up, was professional and quick to rectify the issue. He also checked and realised another lifter for the window was damaged too, and also helped to replace that. Reasonable pricing and I could get my car on the same day. Moses also followed up a few days later to check in if there were any issues. Great service, Thank you! - Anet C

Brought my car in for regular maintenance servicing today, was pleasantly surprised that everything was efficiently completed within a few hours. Had vibrating noise problem with my Mazda 3 car when travelling at certain speeds. Brought down to check and they took short time to diagnose that the problem was due to my wheel bearings. The whole experience just took half a day to finish. Communication was also easy with Moses, I didn't feel any pressure or pushy in sales like some other workshops which I have been to. Sent my car for servicing. Had inexperienced staff working on the car. Had to point out to them that they had jack was hitting my sideskirt causing it to cave in and the paint cut off.
