First round of COE bidding for December ends with constant results

December's first COE bidding exercise sees premiums remaining constant, with no major changes in prices. The rather calm bidding exercise today can be attributed to a 5.3 percent increase in quota, or close to 12,000 COEs across all categories for the quarter between November to January 2015.

At the same time, COE premiums are expected to increase further due to the end-of-year sales rush and the greatest hike of around $3,000 for today's exercise was clocked by Category E.

Category A premiums - for cars which are up to 1,600cc in displacement with no more than 130bhp - ended at $67,089 from $67,889 in the last session - a narrow 1.19 percent decrease amounting to $800.

Premiums for Category B, for cars larger than 1,600cc in engine displacement or power output of more than 130bhp, ended at $74,389 from $72,890 two weeks ago. This recorded a 2.05 percent increase amounting to $1,499.  

Meanwhile, premiums for Category E or the Open Category recorded the highest difference of 4.06 percent after they increased to $76,904 from $73,900 in late November - a difference of $3,004.
