  • An icon reborn: The Toyota Supra unveiled in Singapore

Toyota brings back the Supra after a 17-year hiatus to meet the overwhelming demand from racing enthusiasts and sports car fans.

Authorised distributor for Toyota in Singapore, Borneo Motors, has launched the new Toyota GR Supra at its showroom in Leng Kee on 4 November 2019.

The turbocharged 3.0-litre six-cylinder in the Supra will deliver 335bhp and 500Nm of torque
Now officially available for purchase through Borneo Motors, the all new Supra is the first global model of Toyota Gazoo Racing's (GR) sports car series.

The fifth generation Supra marks the end of a 17-year hiatus since the end of production for the previous generation in 2002. All generations of the Supra have been front-engined, rear-wheel drive vehicles powered by an inline six-cylinder engine, and the latest rendition is no exception.

The 3.0-litre model promises high performance both on and off the racetrack, with a turbocharged 3.0-litre, inline six-cylinder that delivers 335bhp and 500Nm of torque, enough to have the car complete the zero to 100km/h sprint in 4.3 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h.

A 2.0-litre model is also being offered with a turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine delivering 255bhp and 400Nm of torque for nimble, sporty driving. This model will reach 100km/h from a standstill in 5.2 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h.

The double-bubble roof is a unique design feature borrowed from the FT-1 concept car
Taking its design cues from the FT-1 concept car, the Supra features a long bonnet, compact body and double-bubble roof, packed into an overall shape that is sure to enthral driving enthusiasts and capture the hearts and minds of classic sports car fans.

A thick, straight skeletal structure that combines the use of aluminium and steel in optimal locations, and a double-joint type MacPherson strut front suspension coupled with a multi-link rear provides precise vehicle control and minute manoeuvrability.

The handling of the car was honed through hours of racing-speed drives at the Nurburgring, as well as through road tests throughout the world including the Autobahn in Germany, the icy roads of Northern Europe, and the winding roads of mountainous Japan.

On the interior, a driver-focused cockpit features racing-inspired seats to provide both comfort and sports car control when needed.

8.8-inch central multimedia system gives drivers access to navigation, music and hands-free calls
An 8.8-inch central multimedia system gives drivers access to navigation, music and hands-free calls, while a Smart Entry and Push Start system adds practicality to make daily driving easier.

The 'Toyota Supra Safety' suite of technologies will also be standard on both variants, featuring a pre-crash safety system, blind spot monitor, dynamic cruise control, lane departure warning as well as an automatic high beam.

"The Toyota GR Supra is a true-blue sports car that promises to give even the most experienced driver an exhilarating drive," says Jasmmine Wong, Managing Director of Borneo Motors Singapore. "Supra fanatics, enthusiasts and car lovers can look forward to exciting times as we bolster our Toyota Gazoo Racing presense here in Singapore."
