Porsche Panamera Turbo S released

The Panamera Turbo S receives a power boost, with its 4.8-litre twin-turbo V8 uprated from 493bhp to 542bhp. This makes the Panamera more powerful than both the Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG and the BMW 760iL, which has 518bhp and 537bhp respectively. Top speed is 307km/h, 5km/h more than the Panamera Turbo, and 0-100km/h comes up in 3.8 seconds, making it quicker than the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, which does the sprint in 4 seconds.

Other changes include the addition of titanium-aluminium turbine wheels to the turbochargers, as well as revised engine control management to boost power and performance. Torque has also been increased over the standard Turbo, with 691Nm to 750Nm available in Sport and Sport Plus modes respectively, and up to 800Nm of torque available with an overboost function.

Porsche has also added a few systems to the Panamera Turbo S, such as Dynamic Chassis Control which boosts cornering stability, and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus which works with an electronically controlled limited-slip differential to apply a variable torque split to the rear wheels for greater traction and agility.

A Sports Chrono Package revises the suspension and engine controlsfor a more "sporting" drive in Sport Plus mode, while there are also new 20-inch Turbo II wheels, a sports exhaust and a two-tone leather interior. The Porsche Panamera Turbo S is expected to go on sale across Europe in June.
