Michael Schumacher fights off lung infection

Michael Schumacher has recovered from the pneumonia he picked up while lying in a coma in a French hospital. The potentially deadly lung infection discovered last week was actually part of an earlier complication in the seven-time racing champion's recovery, and it has already been treated.

The news comes as Schumacher's family released a statement saying they 'strongly believe' the 45-year old will recover from the 29^th December skiing accident, which has left him fighting for his life. Schumacher is now under observation in hopes that he displays any deliberate action but so far, his only movements have been reflexive reactions.

While the fact that Schumacher has beaten pneumonia is a much needed piece of good news, the F1 champion is still deep in the woods. He has been in a medically induced coma for more than a month following his accident, and there have been concerns that he could remain in a vegetative state for the rest of his life.
