COE premiums rise across all categories, Cat E now highest since July 2015

In the second round of bidding for August, Certificate of Entitlement (COE) prices rose across all private car categories.
More buyers could have been persuaded to make their purchases in these last two weeks, in leiu of the various National Day offers given by dealers across the long weekend. This could also explain the rise in bids received this session when compared to the last.

Cat A COE - Premiums climb 3.3%

Premiums for the category now stand at 10.6% above the 12-month trailing average.
The number of unsuccessful bids this round exceeded the available quota by 40%. This figure has averaged 48% for Cat A in the last 12 months.
Cat B COE - $5,000 jump in premiums

This lastest climb has brought premiums for the category up to 24% above the 12-month trailing average.
The total number of unsuccessful bids this round exceeded the quota available by 34%, lower than the 12-month average of 45%.
Cat C COE - A $2,579 drop
Premiums for Cat C, for goods vehicles and buses, fell by $2,579 (6.1%), closing at $40,010.
The number of unsuccessful bids this round exceeded the available quota by 86%, higher than the 12-month trailing average of 79%.
Cat E COE - Highest since July 2015

The premium for this bidding round now stands at 29.2% above the 12-month trailing average. Premiums for the category have not been this high since July of 2015.
The number of unsuccessful bids this round exceeded the available quota by 106%. The 12-month trailing average for this figure is 58%.
Prevailing Quota Premium
The Prevailing Quota Premium is the amount to be paid for COE renewal and is computed from the moving average of the previous three-months of COE prices. Those looking to renew the COE on their cars will thus have to pay the following prices for the respective months.
