Lexus has updated its RX350L and RX450hL SUVs for the 2022 model year with a host of new features and technology. Inside and out, the RXL models continue to exude sophistication and modern luxury.
The latest smartphone vehicle integration systems and their respective virtual assistants are standard across the RXL lineup. Both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support are included, allowing access to familiar smartphone apps such as Spotify, WhatsApp, and Google Maps.
The new RXL lineup also includes Dynamic Voice Command when specified with the 12.3-inch multimedia system. The upgraded voice-recognition system can recognise millions more phrases than conventional Lexus systems, offering greater accuracy when navigating.
Guests can also access the intuitive Lexus interface through the RXL's standard 8.0-inch or optional 12.3-inch touchscreen dashboard display. Six USB ports positioned throughout the RXL at easy-to-access locations, guaranteeing on-the-go charging and connectivity.
In addition to Lexus Safety Connect included with the vehicle, the suite of standard safety features in the 2022 Lexus RXL includes Lexus' advanced Safety System+ 2.0 as standard equipment. This features daytime bicyclist detection and low-light pedestrian detection, along with Road Sign Assist and Lane Tracing Assist, expanding the scenarios in which the RXL provides safety for all occupants.
In terms of driving dynamics, both the front and rear stabiliser bars are hollow to reduce weight, with thicker reinforced bushings that help reduce body roll and improve steering response. The shock absorbers work with the stiffer roll bars, while upgraded dampers control high frequency vibrations to create a smoother ride.
The Lexus Hybrid Drive system on the RX450hL pairs the D4-S 3.5-litre V6 engine with two high-torque electric drive motor-generators.
The all-weather drive system employs an independent electric motor to drive the rear wheels when needed to help maintain optimal traction. This means that despite having 303bhp on tap, the RX450hL is capable of an impressive 12.3km/L, delivering both driving performance and efficiency.
