Lexus is showcasing its RX 350 F SPORT at the international auto show currently in progress at the big apple. The F sport features both interior and exterior enhancements over the standard, which mostly is cosmetic rather than performance.
With an output of 270 hp at 6,200 rpm the 3.5-litre V6 incorporates VVT-i technology to control both intake and exhaust camshafts independently that helps optimise the performance of the engine. The accompanying eight-speed automatic gearbox has paddle shifters as standard, which yields quick shifting response and a more precise clutch operation.
The RX features Active Torque Control AWD system which electronically controls the rear differential for either front wheel drive or all-wheel drive. When accelerating, torque is provided to all four wheels and only to the front at cruising speeds which enhances fuel efficiency.
The F sport suspension provides a more engaging driving experience through firmer shocks, springs while dampers absorb and minimizes body vibrations, ensuring a more linear steering feel and enhanced ride comfort. The VDIM handling technology provided as standard on the RX plays sixth sense by anticipating loss of vehicle control and governs the entire vehicle’s braking systems and stability controls.

The new front of the RX is highlighted with Lexus’ new spindle grille (commonly dubbed the hourglass grille) a bolder sport bumper, and an F Sport exclusive grille incorporating an exclusive mesh design (which looks like compressed springs of a mattress to be honest). Like the McLaren MP4-12C which has headlights the glow to reveal the crescent shaped McLaren logo, the LED daytime running lights and rear lamps reflect the “L” design motif. The RX F Sport will be exclusively equipped with 19-inch split five-spoke wheels.
The interior treated with perforated black leather-trimmed seats with white perforation holes with a contrast white stitching accentuates for the seats, center console and door armrests. A new Ebony Bird’s Eye Maple trim comprehends the sporty yet elegant nature of the RX. A leather-wrapped steering wheel showcasing the “F” logo, and aluminum pedals also enhance the handsome and well-tailored interior.
The RX does not lag in the connectivity department when it comes to music. Auxiliary port, USB inputs, and Bluetooth wireless connectivity are standard. The large storage box in the center console has enough room for your entertainment devices while at the same time hides any wires out of sight.

Since this car is tailored to the American market, the RX has added features like the next generation Hard Disc Drive (HDD) navigation system and a Siri inspired unique voice recognition system, which accepts casual-language inputs for certain functions. The system also includes HD Radio with iTunes tagging and automatic Bluetooth phonebook download.
A cool service called Lexus Enform with Safety Connect allows you to conduct local searches through the Bing browser, or utilise voice-enabled apps and among other services make restaurant reservations, get movie tickets, or tap into internet radio. All this can be controlled using a similar system to BMW’s iDrive using a controller conveniently located within the centre console.
The Lexus RX 350 F SPORT will arrive at dealerships in North America this summer.
