Nissan is rolling out a new Stolen Vehicle Tracking function to its NissanConnect Services app for customers in the U.K.
Designed to deliver greater peace of mind, the new Stolen Vehicle Tracking function will be offered as a subscription service and allows connected vehicles to be tracked and located using the vehicle's GPS. Nissan's service provider in the U.K., Vodafone Automotive, will then collaborate with law enforcement authorities to track the vehicle and coordinate its recovery. Nissan states that the system can deactivate a vehicle's ignition remotely if requested by the authorities to facilitate vehicle recovery.
The new feature is available on the Nissan Ariya, as well as Qashqai models produced from June 2022, and examples of the X-Trail produced since September 2022. Users of the new feature will be able to receive instant notifications if the vehicle is towed without the owner's knowledge, and the app is said to offer direct communication between the Vodafone Automotive operator and law enforcement authorities within Europe.
The NissanConnect Services app currently offers features including remote control over the vehicle's horn and lights, to help customers find their vehicle in a car park, as well as remote door locking or unlocking and remote climate control. Other features include the monitoring of vehicle health, driving history and analysis, as well as the issuing of speed alerts, curfew alerts and location alerts.
