Automobili Pininfarina has revealed the design of its new Pura Vision concept, which is set to feature at Monterey Car Week, and is said to have inspired a new 'B95' model, which is also set to make its debut at the event.
The Pura Vision concept is said to have been conceived, designed and developed in Italy by Automobili Pininfarina's family of in-house experts, at the same facility where the Battista hyper GT is assembled, and is an expression of Pininfarina's 'Pura' design philosophy, now applied to what the firm states, is an electric 'luxury utility vehicle'.
The front of the concept is certainly distinctive, thanks to the use of ultra-slim nanofibre lighting technology that measure less than 1mm thick, allowing the Pura Vision concept to sport hidden head lights. This technology is also said to offer superior energy efficiency, fitting for a visionary electric utility vehicle.
Viewed from the top, the Pura Vision concept stands out with its panoramic roof, created by combining the front and rear of the car with a fixed 'biscotto' centre section, that come illuminated with a ring of gentle LED lighting.
This central piece also supports large curved single-piece side windows, which form part of what Pininfarina calls 'lounge doors' on each side. These doors hinge upwards, and in combination with the pillarless opening and rear-hinged back doors, offer unrestricted access to the cabin.
At the rear, the slim head light design is mirrored by the use of slim taillights, while a tapered glasshouse and body that rises sharply from the wheel arches gives the concept visual muscularity. An exposed carbon fibre bumper here, with its technical appearance, adds contrast to the sculptural form of the upper body.
The concept is finished in the cabin with white seats, which contrast against charcoal leather on the dashboard and door tops.
