On a chill Friday evening (30 January 2025) at Cloud9 Piazza at Jewel, Sgcarmart hosted its yearly Annual Awards ceremony to recognise some of the best cars to take to Singapore’s roads over the past year: The winners of the many individual categories in its 2025 Car of the Year awards.
Many guests and big names in the industry were in attendance, eagerly awaiting their turns to celebrate their victories. And the night kicked off with stellar performances from Jocelyn Ng - one of Singapore's top violinists - and a feather burlesque dance troupe, before commencing with the awards ceremony.
In addition, a photo booth was also provided for attendees to snap pictures together, while the lucky draw event allowed some lucky guests to walk away with exciting prizes such as $500 worth of Takashimaya vouchers and a brand-new iPhone 17 Pro.
And for this year, Sgcarmart handed out a total of 36 awards, including 32 categories and four special awards that included the Editorial Pick, Sgcarmart's Top Viewed Model, the Most Improved Car of the Year, and the coveted Car of the Year award.
Each category saw a few cars ranked first and foremost based on a total of eight criteria by the panel of judges from Sgcarmart's Editorial Team. Scores were given to each model based on design, features, performance, economy, safety technologies, functionality, and - just as importantly - value for money. The judges' scores account for 50% of each model's final score, with the other half derived from public votes.
As a result, the winner of each category was chosen based on the scoring of the Sgcarmart judges and the voices of the consumers who voted. And with that, the ultimate award of the Sgcarmart Car of the Year 2025 went to the BYD Sealion 7, the first time a brand has won the title twice in a row, with last year's going to the BYD Seal.
