Singaporean tourist charged in New Zealand for causing head-on collision

What should be a simple overtaking move by a Toyota SUV with four Singaporean tourists including the driver, resulted in a head-on collision with an oncoming car on the State Highway 1, roughly 6km North of Clinton in New Zealand.

While the Singaporean driver of the Toyota SUV was unhurt, the accident killed an 82-year old passenger of the oncoming car. His female driver and the other three Singaporeans sustained injuries.  

According to a spokesperson from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Singapore high commission in New Zealand is aware of the case and is rendering assistance with the four Singaporeans and their families.
