Just in time for the Lunar New Year, or perhaps to celebrate the EA888 engine, Skoda Auto has announced that it has manufactured over 888,000 vehicles in 2023.
The firm states that a total of 781,000 vehicles were manufactured at its Czech plants, while its international facilities contributed an additional 107,000 units.
Skoda states that it built approximately 556,000 units of the Fabia, Scala, Octavia, Octavia iV, Kamiq, Enyaq and Enyaq Coupe series in Mlada Boleslav in 2023. The firm further built a host of transmissions, axles, and engine at the site, which were installed in other Volkswagen Group vehicles.
Mlada Boleslav was also responsible for the manufacturing of approximately 165,000 battery systems for the group's MEB all-electric platform, and approximately 147,000 battery systems for its plug-in hybrid models. The firm's Kvasiny plant also contributed a total of 225,000 units of the Karoq, Kodiaq, Superb, and Superb iV models in 2023.
Skoda Auto also saw the production of over 36,000 units of the Karoq SUV, alongside the first examples of the new Skoda Superb at its Volkswagen facility in Bratislava, while its facilities in China which include Changsha, Nanjing, Ningbo, and Yizheng, contributed approximately 18,500 vehicles in 2023.
Skoda also saw its Pune factory in India producing almost 48,000 units of the locally developed Kushaq and Slavia models while its Aurangabad plant contributed approximately 4,400 units.
