The Volkswagen Group reported an increase in deliveries of its all-electric vehicles by 27% for the first six months of 2022.
This is despite the supply bottlenecks it has faced in terms of production, with a temporary stop of production in Europe and COVID-related lockdowns in China.
217,000 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) have been handed over to customers in the first half year up from 170,900 in the prior-year period. China had a huge role in boosting sales for the Volkswagen Group, with 63,500 BEVs sold, a more than three-fold increase versus the prior-year period.
However, Europe still leads BEV sales, with 128,800 vehicles delivered in the first six months.
By the end of June, Volkswagen delivered 115,900 BEVs to customers, contributing 53% to group total. This was followed by Audi with 50,000 BEVs contributing 23% to group total. Skoda took third place with sales of 22,200 BEVs. Porsche, bolstered by Taycan sales, sold 18,900 BEVs, contributing 9%.
