Volkswagen Polo, Taigo and ID.5 ace Euro NCAP safety test

The Volkswagen ID.5, Volkswagen Polo, and the Volkswagen Taigo have scored the maximum five stars at the latest Euro NCAP safety tests.
The three Volkswagen models achieved very good scores above all in the Adult Occupant protection category. Here, the all-electric ID.5 received 93% of the total possible points, while the Polo and Taigo reached a score of 94%.
The all-electric Volkswagen ID.5 scored well at the tests thanks to safety features including a front centre airbag The high safety scores were also assisted by the addition of the centre airbag at the front seats, installed in all three tested models, which prevents or reduces head contact between those seated in the front row in the event of a side collision.
The ID.5 achieved a result of 89% for the child protection category, while the Polo scored 80% and the Taigo scored 84%.
The Volkswagen ID.5 also scored a total of 85% in the assistance systems category, with the Taigo and Polo both scoring 70%. All cars here feature the firm's Driver Alert System, the Front Assist emergency braking system with city emergency braking function and pedestrian detection, as well as the Lane Assist lane keeping assistant as standard.
Furthering the score of the ID.5 in this category are the visual and acoustic seat belt reminders (in the first row of seats) as well as the seat occupancy recognition system (in the second row of seats).
