Electric Premium Compact Crossover of the Year
ZEEKR X Electric
The Zeekr X is built on the same platform and shares the same powertrain as the Volvo EX30 and Smart #1, but it looks distinctly futuristic. Unlock the car and covers retract to reveal a niche for opening the doors. This minimalist theme continues inside, with little joysticks replacing buttons on the steering wheel. Other unique goodies include a fridge that cools, freezes and warms, plus a Rest mode that reclines the driver’s seat and plays relaxing tunes.

Test drove it today, car is very responsive and finishing is good but fall under cat b for such small car... Audio system was good and as usual as other china made car, many tech inside. Was serve by sale assistance Eugenia and she was fantastic

This car is the future, much better than the old and overpriced Euro brands with dinosaur tech. The display is fast and snappy, I think they used high end chips to power it.

Test drove the X in RWD variant and my observations and review as below.Likes- Mimalist interior with luxury material touches especially on the doors, seats, dashboards & steering wheel- Responsive touchscreen and easy to use IU- Design is rather unique amongst EV competitors especially from the front & rear- Electric seats were quiet & smooth comes with ventilated seats- Drive was smooth and powerful enough with stable handling due to SEA platform similar in Volvo EX30- First car I've tested with Yamaha speakers system!Dislikes- The design language from the side looks disproportionate, it's almost like an Opel Mokka- Boot space is rather small before folding- Panaromic roof but no auto blind/shades, includes a foldable shade though- Overpriced and price package not attractive enough for adopters of this new brandAt the price point of almost $200k (time of writing), this must be the most overpriced EV in S'pore. Besides the luxury cabin interior nothing else about it can compete with German brands EV or even it's sister brand Volvo & Polestar. A reasonable and considerable price I recommend will range from $170 (RWD) ~$190 (AWD).I do praise the new showroom that gives off a luxury and energetic feel accompanied with the free design desserts that's reminiscent of Lexus's servicing.
Verdict
Can a new car brand hit a homerun on its first attempt? Conventional thinking says no, because it needs to learn from experience and mistakes before being able to craft something amazing.

Well, Zeekr must be unconventional because despite being founded just three years ago, its X crossover has been hit out of the park. Well-planned and superbly executed, it is our Electric Premium Compact Crossover of 2024.

One look at the X and you know it's different. Its styling combines sleek lines and sharp angles, distinguishing it from rivals. Get behind the wheel and you'll find yourself in an upmarket interior, made from materials that look and feel premium.

The X's technology is presented in a slick manner. Rather than row upon row of buttons, the car's many features are in the infotainment system. Certain functions, like media, can be controlled with minimal movements via the ‘joysticks' on the steering wheel.

There are unique features, too, like an external loudspeaker that lets drivers talk to pedestrians (only when the vehicle is in Park). It also plays sound effects like a meowing cat, which would make people think there's a lost kitty in the carpark.

More useful, though, is the available freezer/chiller/warmer that can keep food and drinks cold or hot. It certainly makes one wish that other carmakers included such options in their models.

In Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) form, the Zeekr X isn't a high-performance crossover, but it certainly has pep in its step, courtesy of its electric motor that produces 268bhp and 343Nm of torque. Finishing the century sprint in 5.6 seconds, the X is more than capable of leaving slow traffic in its silent wake, while the 440km range should be more than enough for a week's worth of driving for the average motorist.

Keener drivers, on the other hand, will be pleased with the All-Wheel Drive (AWD) model. With 422bhp and 543Nm of torque, it does zero to 100km/h in a scintillating 3.8 seconds, while offering a range of up to 440km.
