Lexus is officially presenting the IS 350 F Sport through a web reveal before the formal global debut in Detroit next week. The well received Lexus Hybrid Drive makes its IS debut with the IS 300h accompanying other powertrain variants in the range like the IS 250 and IS 350 with no information on performance figures.
Evident from the design - the new IS F Sport is heavily inspired by the LF-CC concept. The current signature 'Spindle Grille' provides the IS F Sport with a more aggressive stance and a stronger brand identity while on the move. Not to mention the new 'corporate face' sits well with its siblings across the board.
The more defined, sharply styled body are highlighted by striking character lines that starts with the spindle grille and passes throughout till the rear lights. The rear lights melts away at the corners to hit the tip of the wide wheel arches. The rear aesthetics gives widens the visual language of the IS on top of providing the new IS with a more powerful road presence.
Another highlight of the exterior besides the dominant spindle grille would be the split head lamp cluster featuring the distinctive L-shaped Daytime Running Lights (DRL) a design feature lifted from the LF-CC concept that also makes its presence on the LF-LC.
The F Sport model can be instantly recognised by a more prominent spindle grille and aggressive front bumper design. The grille sits higher which allows for the increased area of the lower grille to draw a larger volume of air.
Like the exterior the interior has also been given a thorough update. Judging from the pictures alone, the IS F Sport looks neat and uncluttered while the combination of black, an exclusive Rioja red finished seats and brushed aluminium panels is drop dead stunning. We are aware Lexus spends a huge amount of time to get every minuscule detail to perfection - and it is clearly evident here.
Rear seat occupants will benefit from the new IS' increased width and length to the wheelbase. The expanded dimensions and thinner front seat design contributes to, what Lexus claims, the best knee room offered in its class - on top of improved accessibility.
