Five-year-old girl dies in accident at Sembawang

A five year old has died from internal injuries after being hit by a cab as they crossed Sembawang Drive, near Sembawang Primary School, on Wednesday night. Her brother sustained head injuries but is said to be in a stable condition now. Their 32-year-old mother, a homemaker was with her children at time of the accident but was not hit by the taxi. The accident is believed to have occurred within a school zone with red marked roads.
It is understood the children were taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital after being sent to a nearby clinic. The girl died in hospital while the boy was later transferred to KK Women's and Children Hospital.
The family are Permanent Residents, and were in Mumbai before moving here two years ago. They reside in the Admiralty area. According to the local press, a 68-year-old taxi driver has filed an accident report at the TransCab office on thursday. According to a Police spokesman the taxi driver is assisting in investigations and has not been charged with an offense. He is currently out on bail.
