This bright green car that you see in the pictures, is the new Skoda Fabia RS Rally2.
Mamba Green is the name of the colour, drawing a strong visual tie between Skoda's motorsport efforts and its road-going RS models such as the Octavia RS and Enyaq Coupe RS iV. Both of which, can also be had in this searing bring paint finish.
The Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 gets an aerodynamic package said to double is downforce generated compared to the Fabia Rally2 evo But Skoda's new rally fighter isn't just all show. That massive wing, new side skirts, that front splitter, and those air curtains in the front bumpers (also present in your road-going Fabia) all give the Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 twice the aerodynamic downforce compared to the Fabia Rally2 evo.
And all those massive intakes and vents throughout the car? Those feed cool air to a new 1.6-litre turbocharge four-cylinder, said to be based off the Volkswagen Group's EA888 engine. Redesigned intake and exhaust ports, optimised pistons and combustion chambers, variable valve timing and a redesigned lubrication system all aid a total output of 285bhp, and 430Nm of torque.
Power is put onto the road via a five-speed sequential gearbox, with all-wheel drive via mechanical differential locks on the front and rear axles only, as FIA regulations do not allow a centre differential or any electronic driving aids to improve traction.
Step into the Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 and there's also a nifty little control panel and touch screen, all with integrated comms. Although the driver will have access the vehicle's numerous functions directly from the steering wheel buttons.
There's also a total of 38.5m of high-strength chromium-molybdenum steel tubing here, employed to form a roll cage to protect driver and co-driver, as well as a fire extinguishing system that can be activated externally should it all go wrong.
