The 2024 Kia Asia Pacific (APAC) EV Day was held on 13 November, at the Taipei Performing Arts Centre in Taiwan. Regional media were invited to the event that showcased a lineup of the Korean car manufacturer's latest and upcoming EVs.
Apart from showcasing its latest creations, the event also highlighted Kia's groundbreaking technologies, innovative designs and strategies for its growth in the future.
"This event represents a significant milestone in our journey towards a more sustainable future, displaying our advanced EV technologies, innovative designs, and meticulous strategies. By prioritising a customer-centric approach, we are not only meeting the demands of today's consumers but also setting the stage for a greener tomorrow. We are excited to have shared our vision and innovations with our valued partners and stakeholders across the APAC region," said Ki Seok Ahn, President & CEO of Kia Asia Pacific HQ.
Among the cars that were showcased at Kia APAC EV Day 2024, a few models were given extra attention. These include the Kia EV3, a crossover EV that inherits many of the innovative technology that went into the brand's flagship EV9 SUV.
Slated to go on sale in selected APAC countries in 2025 (and expected to reach Singapore in Q3 2025), the EV3 is yet another high-tech EV built upon the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). By incorporating a long sloping roofline, strong angular side arches and a hatchback design, the EV3 is a sporty and robust looking crossover.
Yet another highly-anticipated Kia EV that was showcased at the event is the Kia EV5. This five-seater electric SUV is headed for Singapore in the near future. Sharing the same design language that the EV9 has been created with, the EV5 looks like a smaller EV9, and would likely be a great choice for drivers who do not require the 3-row seating capacity that the latter offers.
Kia's Concept EV4 and Concept PV5 were also present at the event - these two concepts illustrate Kia's vision of the future of EVs. For the first time, the Concept EV4 has been showcased in the APAC region. A sleek and stylish four-door sedan with suicide doors and a fastback-style rear-end, the Concept EV4 merges earth-inspired aesthetics with cutting-edge technology.
The PV5 Concept is Kia's first dedicated Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) - a concept that goes beyond traditional vehicles to provide a total mobility solution. It was conceptualised for all kinds of commercial and passenger use, be it ride-hailing, logistics or as a personal vehicle.
In addition to the showcase of these cutting-edge vehicles, Kia communicated its goal of introducing a full line up of EVs at various price point - including the upcoming EV2, a small and affordable EV for emerging markets. In addition to the EVs, Kia also plans to expand its range of Hybrid EVs and PBVs while still offering internal combustion engine vehicles for emerging markets. Plans to operate six global EV production bases by 2025 was also announced among the brand's comprehensive plan and strategies.
