Cat A and B COE climb while Cat E slips; Cat B COE now back above $120,000

In the first round of bidding for June, Certificate of Entitlement (COE) premiums climbed for Cat A and B, while premiums for Cat E slipped. These changes bring the premium for Cat A back close to the $100,000 mark, while the premium for Cat B is now greater than in the first bidding session for May 2023, before the additional one-time adjustment in available supply of COEs was added by the LTA.
The longer three-week gap between this bidding session and the last could explain the raised premiums for Cat A and B this session.

Cat A COE - Close to the $100,000 mark
Premiums for Cat A, for cars up to 1,600cc in engine capacity and with an output of no more than 130bhp, or electric vehicles with a power output of up to 110kW, climbed by a total of $6,001 (6.5%) to end at $98,001.This climb takes premiums for the category to 13.5% above the 12-month trailing average. The total number of bids submitted this session exceeded the number of successful bids this round by 52%, higher than the 12-month average of 39% for the category.
Cat B COE - Taking a $7,668 climb
Premiums for Cat B, for larger cars with more than 130bhp or engine displacements larger than 1,600cc, or electric vehicles with a power output of more than 110kW, also took a sizable climb this session. Premiums for the category climbed by a total of $7,668 (6.8%) this session to reach $120,702.This climb sees premiums for the category now standing at just 9.5% above the 12-month trailing average.
The total number of unsuccessful bids this round exceed the quota available by 58%, higher than the 12-month average figure for this category of 40%.
Cat C COE - Climbing up $4,300
Premiums for Cat C, for goods vehicles and buses, climbed this session by $4,300 (5.6%) to close at $81,801.

Cat E COE - The only category to drop
Cat E, the open category, was the only private car category to slip this session. Premiums for the category fell by $4,111 (3.3%).
