Warning: A Disheartening Experience with Tay Automobiles

I typically refrain from sharing negative reviews online, but my recent interaction with Tay Automobiles was so disappointing that I feel compelled to caution others about the potential pitfalls of leasing with this company. It ranks as the most regrettable business experience I have ever encountered.

The company primarily uses WhatsApp for communication, which, while not ideal, could be acceptable if they were courteous. Unfortunately, this is far from the reality. The consistently rude and unhelpful tone creates an unfavourable customer experience, a sentiment echoed in other reviews.

To secure a booking, they insisted on a substantial $500 deposit, a price I reluctantly paid via bank transfer. Surprisingly, they failed to provide a formal invoice or receipt for the deposit, an unusual practice for any reputable company. Despite my follow-up attempts, there has been no response, leaving me questioning how they are able to operate without supplying such a basic document and whether they are fulfilling their obligations regarding declaring these payments and obligatory government fees.

After making the payment, I was informed about the excess insurance terms, disclosing that I would face a higher excess due to my years of driving experience in Singapore. This crucial information arrived 24 hours after booking. It's astonishing that such basic information wasn't provided before I transferred the deposit. Given my plans to enter Malaysia and the substantial increase in excess, I requested to cancel the booking and receive a refund. Although I was outside the 24-hour window, I was deeply apologetic, and it still left one week for the company to rent out the car and take alternative bookings. In response, there was a constant abrupt manner and they directed me to pursue legal action and refused any further communication, highlighting the company's reluctance to address customer concerns. This approach, coupled with a basic disregard for customer satisfaction, was shocking and almost invited negative reviews and legal action.

Despite my continued efforts to contact Tay Automobiles through various channels, including email ([email protected]) and telephone, they remain unresponsive. My experience, coupled with other negative reviews, suggests they are prepared to handle such situations, so if you are reading this, I strongly suggest using a different company.

While losing my deposit was disheartening, especially given my current financial circumstances, I find solace in not proceeding further with my booking and avoiding additional dealings with this unprofessional company. I sincerely hope others take heed of this cautionary tale and think twice before engaging with Tay Automobiles.

I got to know this car rental company after doing searches on SgCarmart. Dropped an inquiry and got an almost immediate response from Bensley. He was quick to response and immediately confirmed my booking and paid a booking fee (part of the car rental cost). Upon collection, balance rental payment was made and car deposit too.

I rented a beautiful BMW 525i over the Fri-Mon weekend and my family and I love this car. (Some pictures below to share).

A few other personal touches about Bensley is that shortly after leaving the carpark, received some basic instructions on how to handle a car, turns, breaks etc. And to always remain calm and do not allow other drivers to determine how you drive. Since I was a P-Plate these basic advise was a great reminder.

I have recently also returned to rent another car last weekend and this time for a drive in into JB.

Overall experienced was amazing I would rate 5/5 stars.
