The V40 R-Design wears a silk-metal framed grille finished in high gloss which is low and wide to create a sporty, close-to-the-ground feel. Bolder, expressive lines further enhance its classic V-shaped bonnet. The V40 R-Design's sporty stance is enhanced by its Iron Stone diffuser, silk-metal finish details and twin exhaust tailpipes with the 18-inch five-spoke diamond-cut Ixion wheels completing its stylish and dynamic looks.
A fixed panoramic glass roof stretches from the front windscreen to the backrest of the rear seats creating a light and spacious feel. Rebel Blue, inspired by classic racing, is an exclusive exterior finish to the R-Design range and exudes an avidly sporty vibe.
The interior of the Volvo V40 R-Design is designed with a strong focus to ergonomics, comfort and an engaging driving experience. The black inner roof lining creates an intimate sporty ambience while electrically controlled blinds give the occupant the choice to block out part, or all of the sun.
The wide instrument panel, together with the fluidity of the door design, creates a spacious environment while the new generation R-Design seats and interior details emphasise the distinctive Scandinavian design of the car.The V40 R-Design is available with a new 8-inch Adaptive Digital Display that presents vital information to the driver. The V40 R-Design is - among a library of nifty features and technologies - equipped with the enhanced City Safety system which is active at speeds up to 50km/h. The system allows the car to brake automatically if the driver fails to react in time when the vehicle in front slows down or stops, or if the car is approaching a stationary vehicle too fast.
Available as an option, the V40 R-Design can be equipped with the world's first pedestrian air bag, which lightens the consequence if a collision with a pedestrian is unavoidable. When the sensors in the front bumper register the physical contact between the car and the pedestrian, the rear end of the bonnet is released and at the same time elevated by the deployment of the airbag.
The new Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection with full auto brake is equipped with an advanced sensor system that scans the area ahead. If a cyclist travelling in the same direction as the car suddenly swerves out and collision is imminent, an instant warning and full braking power will be applied. This technology can also detect if a pedestrian steps out into the road in front of the car. Should the driver not respond in time, the car will warn and automatically activate the brakes.
Another nifty feature among others is the Adaptive Cruise Control & Distance Alert, which promotes comfortable driving by automatically maintains a set time gap to the car in front. The Queue Assist helps to maintain the set gap all the way down to standstill.
