Car rental for driving into Malaysia
When was the last time you heard of someone travelling to Kuala Lumpur? It definitely wasn't too long ago, and there's a good reason for that. You see, it's probably the closest and most convenient capital to travel too, and many locals have family and friends to visit in Malaysia.

It’s also a haven for shoppers keen on labels and good deals they otherwise wouldn’t be able to find back at home.

There are a number of ways which people can make their way into Malaysia, whether by plane, car, coach or even the plain old train. Of course, many Singaporeans drive themselves in. It’s a lot cheaper than taking a flight, a whole lot more convenient than the others and, on top of that, you get to keep your privacy.

But states like Johor Bahru have a notorious reputation for the number of reported robberies and car hijacking cases, making anybody think twice about driving their own Toyota in, let alone an exotic car. Apparently, automobiles of the common folk are more valuable to the robbers anyway.

The short list of choices reads on. A couple of hundred dollars, per person, mind you, is the cost for a flight to the capital, while coach prices per passenger range from about forty dollars up to slightly under a hundred. And if you think the train ride is going to offer you a scenic view like those you see in postcards, you’d be sorely mistaken. In fact, sore would be the only feeling you would get, because the ride is a tediously boring seven hours or so.

So if you’re in no rush, enjoy a bit of driving and prefer some personal space, the best option would still be to travel by car. And with the presence of car rental companies, driving up with a peace of mind is possible; there’s lesser need for you to worry about whether the suspicious little Perodua beside you is ferrying a professionals from the illegal car trade.

As I had experienced, booking a car with Avis is a breeze. And I’m not exaggerating. Clients can either book through their website or call them. Just inform them of the preferred time, date and pick up location and simply head there to find the car keys waiting for you.

One aspect of their rental system which makes them particularly attractive is that there is no need for you to pay any deposit before you even see the car. In fact, those with extremely busy schedules will love the fact that there is no cancellation fee in the event of a no-show. The cars will actually even be reserved for a maximum of 24 hours under the customer’s name, and payment is only due at the end of the term, when the car has been returned.
