Mercedes-AMG has revealed yet another special edition model to celebrate its 55th anniversary.

This time, it's the Mercedes-AMG GT63 S E Performance that gets the special edition treatment. Unlike the special AMG compact cars which you can read about here and here however, this special edition AMG GT63 S E Performance is being called the 'F1 Edition', in order to highlight how the model has benefited from the firm's participation in Formula One, being powered by a plug-in hybrid drivetrain and all.

The F1 Edition Mercedes-AMG GT63 S E Performance gets a red accent line that runs across its front spoiler and rear diffuser
Distinctive features for the F1 Edition Mercedes-AMG GT63 S E Performance include its non-metallic Manufaktur alpine grey paint finish, along with the AMG logo on its flank, which comes as a foiling which fades from grey to black.

The car also gets red accents on its front splitter and rear diffuser, which match the 21-inch AMG forged wheels with their red rim flange, a colour scheme borrowed from the Mercedes-AMG official FIA F1 Medical Car, a lightly modified Mercedes-AMG GT63 S.

Back onto the F1 Edition Mercedes-AMG GT63 S E Performance, AMG fans will also notice the car sports the AMG Aerodynamics package, which adds aerodynamic components such as the front apron and splitter, as well as the rear aerofoil, among others, here finished in high-gloss black.

A darkened AMG-specific radiator grille and model badges on the boot lid and wings in black chrome complete the exclusive appearance of the limited edition car.

As with the other 'Edition 55' models, the interior of the F1 Edition Mercedes-AMG GT63 S E is characterised by the contrast of black and red. Here, the AMG Performance seats are upholstered in nappa leather upholstery in black with red decorative stitching.

There's also red seat belts and an AMG performance steering wheel in nappa leather/Dinamica microfibre with red decorative stitching, while the AMG door sill trims feature red illuminated 'AMG' lettering.
