Volvo Cars has production of the C40 Recharge, its latest fully electric model, at its manufacturing plant in Ghent, Belgium.
The C40 Recharge is Volvo Cars' second fully electric car and is the latest in a series of new pure electric cars to be launched in the coming years.
The Ghent plant is one of the company’s largest and also produces the XC40 Recharge, Volvo Cars' first fully electric model.
The C40 Recharge will come with an Android-based infotainment system, jointly developed with Google. It will provide consumers with Google apps and services built in, including Google Assistant, Google Maps and Google Play.
Unlimited data enables superior connectivity while the ability to receive software updates over the air means the system will continue to improve over time, even after the car has left the factory.
Propulsion in the C40 Recharge is provided by two electric motors at either axle. The car utilises a 78kWh battery that can be fast-charged from 10% to 80% in about 40 minutes. Volvo is anticipating a range of close to 420km with the C40 Recharge.
The C40 Recharge is but part of Volvo’s planned all-electric range. The firm aims to sell only fully electric cars by 2030.
