BlackVue Over the Cloud - Connecting you and your car
08 Mar 2016|11,858 views
One of my afternoon drives around town a couple of months ago was savagely ruined by a fatuous driver who imprudently switched lanes without using his signal or checking if there were cars in the next lane.
I struggled to prove that I was not at fault even though I was minding my own business and driving in my lane at safe speeds. Because I did not have videographic evidence against the other party, the experience left me with a hole in my pocket on top of a damaged door and a bruised ego.
Dash cams don't just provide first-hand evidence of a car accident - they also provide the ultimate proof against bad drivers and document memorable road trips.
Now that you're thinking of getting a dash cam to avoid scenarios like mine, why not use your dash cam to its full potential with BlackVue's Over the Cloud service?
What cloud? A weather monitoring system?
BlackVue Over the Cloud combines state-of-the-art dash cam technology with cloud ubiquity to make the most out of your BlackVue dash cam. Video backup, real-time GPS-tracking, alarm, the possibilities are endless. BlackVue Over the Cloud is all about using your dash cam to its full potential, so that you and your car are always connected.
Taking advantage of a mobile or car-embedded Internet connection and a BlackVue dash cam, BlackVue Over the Cloud connects you to your car through the Cloud. Using the BlackVue App on your smart phone or tablet, you will be able to see where your car is located in real time and what is happening around it.
BlackVue Over the Cloud is comprised of six key features made possible by the integration of BlackVue's Internet-connected dash cams, the BlackVue Cloud and the BlackVue App for smart phones and tablets.

One system, multiple features
The first of those features is 'Live View.' This enables you to monitor your car in real time from anywhere in the world.

Like the system used by truckers in the United States, users can help each other avoid traffic jams.
'Emergency Alarm' enables you to set up push notifications to be alerted on your smartphone or even your smart watch as soon as certain preset events occur, such as the start of a recording resulting from an impact detected on the car or the disconnection of the dash cam from the Cloud while the car is parked.
'GPS Tracking' adds the ability to visualise your car's location and speed on a map. A little like Google Maps - only better.
With its 'Video Backup' feature, you can also move files from the dash cam's memory to the Cloud storage or their smart phone right from the app - the same way Apple’s iCloud works.
Finally, 'Remote Video Playback' ability means that the videos you previously stored in the Cloud or in the dash cam can be played anytime on your smart phone or tablet.
All these features have been designed to better connect drivers and their vehicles, and also provide peace of mind to individuals and businesses alike.
Can you use it?
BlackVue Over the Cloud works with the DR650GW Series models manufactured after April 2015. As of 11 November 2015, the new BlackVue C (Cloud) app is ready for both iOS and Android OS and Version 2.00 firmware only works with the latest BlackVue C app.
Before you upgrade to the latest firmware version 2.00 (or higher) which supported Cloud, make sure you are able to install the BlackVue C App to your smart phone successfully. You can downgrade the firmware V2.00 back to version 1.009 if needed.
