The free non-peak train rides trial to the city area has been extended for a year to June 2015. The news came during a media event at Bugis MRT station, where Senior Minister of State for Transport and Finance Josephine Teo announced the decision.
The trial, which kicked off on 24th June 2013, has received good success with around seven percent of commuters opting to travel out of the 8:00am to 9:00am peak period.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) said it will continue to encourage more companies to have flexible work arrangements so that more employees in the city area can make use of the free travel.
Mrs. Teo, however, added that it's too early to say if the scheme will become permanent.
