Skoda has announced that it will be supporting the Tour de France for the 19th time with a fleet comprising of the Octavia, Superb, and the Enyaq iV.

Skoda Auto has announced that it will once again be supporting the Tour de France.

This year will mark the 19th time the firm has supported the cycling classic. Starting from Copenhagen, Denmark come 1 July 2022, the race will cover a total of six mountain stretches and will take peloton through four countries over a distance of 3,300km, cumulating in a finish on the Avenue des Champs-Elysees in Paris come 24 July 2022.

Skoda will be supporting the event with up to 250 vehicles, comprising of the Octavia, Superb, as well as the all-electric Enyaq iV. The vehicles will be utilised by event organisers and race management, as will also see service as support vehicles for the event.

Tour Director Christian Prudhomme will be travelling in an all-electric Skoda Enyaq iV ahead of the pack. He will be waving the yellow flag through the sliding roof of the 'Red Car' at the start of each stage. This is the third time the SUV has served as Prudhomme's mobile command centre. On some stages, a plug-in hybrid Skoda Superb iV will be taking to the course as the command vehicle.
