Aston Martin has revealed its new DB12.
Described by Aston Martin as a 'Super Tourer', the car takes the mantle of the DB bloodline from the DB11, which first went into production in 2016.
Unlike the DB11, this Aston Martin DB12 is being launched with a 4.0-litre AMG-sourced V8. Tuned by Aston Martin's engineers and equipped with upgrades including modified cam profiles, optimised compression ratios, and larger diameter turbochargers, this unit delivers a total of 671bhp and 800Nm of torque.
This engine has also received a completely redesigned cooling system, with an additional two auxiliary coolers added to the existing central main radiator.
All the power from this engine is fed through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Also new for an Aston Martin DB model here is the use of an electronic limited-slip differential, said to be able to switch between fully open to 100% locked in a matter of milliseconds.
The 21-inch Michelin Pilot Sport 5 S tyres on the DB12 utilise a bespoke compound tuned been tuned by the Aston Martin dynamics team New, state-of-the-art intelligent adaptive dampers, a bonded aluminium structure and an Electronic Power Assisted Steering system all promise fine handling for the new DB12.
And all these components will sit under a new body, said to have been designed to deliver a more muscular physique. A reshaped radiator aperture and new splitter also features at the front, while the track of the Aston Martin DB12 has been increased by 6mm at the front and 22mm at the rear from the DB11.
In the cabin, the dashboard to the car makes a dramatic change away from the one of the DB11. A 10.25-inch infotainment screen now sits within the top of a sloping centre console. This system is said to come with a new online navigation system that will allow users to look up their favourite restaurant and read reviews.
A new Aston Martin App will also offer services including allowing customers to monitor, locate and protect their vehicle, as well as to send navigation points of interest, or be guided on foot with last mile navigation all via their phone.
This cabin will come upholstered in hand-stitched Bridge of Weir hides, while the key mechanical operations of gear selection, drive selection, heating and ventilation are still controlled via physical switches.
Deliveries of the Aston Martin DB12 are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2023.
