FF stands for Ferrari Four, which signifies the four-wheel-drive system that underpins the concept, the first for the famed Italian sports carmaker. Ferrari calls the system 4RM, and says it weighs 50 per cent less than a standard four-wheel-drive system, allowing for almost perfect weight distribution. Ferrari says that "it delivers record levels of performance on all terrains and in all conditions via continuous and intelligent predictive torque distribution to all four wheels."
Aside from the four-wheel-drive system, the FF is also revolutionary in its looks. Dressed in a shooting brake style body, the FF is able to "comfortably accommodate four people and their luggage", with 450 litres of boot space available, expandable to 800 litres if the rear seats are folded down. The FF measures 4,907 mm in length, 1,953 in width and 1,379 mm in height, with its dramatic wagon-like shape.
Under the bonnet, the FF is powered by a 6.3-litre V12 engine that produces 651bhp and 683Nm of torque. Mated to a dual-clutch F1 style gearbox, the FF, which weighs in at 1790kg, is able to power from 0-100km/h in 3.7 seconds and hit its top speed of 335km/h. To help with road-holding, the FF features an independent suspension with magnetically adjustable dampers and Brembo carbon ceramic brakes. Ferrari will release more details about the FF at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in March.
