It's not just all form and no function though, as the remarkable slick styling improves airflow over the upper and lower body portions - for a coefficient drag figure of just 0.26.
The Q50 can be powered by one of two powertrains at launch in North America - a 3.7-litre V6 good for 328bhp and 364Nm of torque or a hybrid powertrain which combines a 3.5-litre V6 good for 296bhp and 345Nm of torque bundled to a 50kW electric motor that provides an additional 67bhp and 269Nm of torque for a combined output of 354bhp. Both powertrains drive the rear wheels through a seven-speed 'electronically controlled' automatic transmission with manual mode operational via paddle shifters. The Q50 is also available with an All-Wheel Drive option.
The cabin of the Q50 boasts the usual slew of amenities and can be finished among a choice of interior fabrics and colours; i.e. Wheat, Graphite and Stone. If Lexus has its exclusive bamboo trim, Infiniti has its 'Kacchu' aluminum - inspired by traditional Samurai armaments and genuine maple wood trim.
The new Infiniti Q50 - formerly known as the G Sedan - carries on Infiniti's tradition of premium styling and sportiness brought about by the G series predecessor further. The dynamic character line rises from the 'double arch' grille migrating to the rear end with elegance. The reworked 'double arch' grille, dynamic roofline and signature 'crescent-cut' C-pillars are enhanced to retain the unique Infiniti look.
