Five must-have options on the new Porsche Panamera

As with most Porsches, the brand new Panamera is offered with an extensive options list that allows you to personalise your car to your individual wishes. In a sense, it is conceivable that no two Panameras will be the same.
It's a well-known fact that Porsche offers a deeply extensive options list. If you decide to go crazy and tick just about every box on the options list, you could conceivably just about double up the price of the base model Panamera. Using the Porsche Car Configurator, we managed to take a $360,388 base model Panamera and tack on $341,627 worth of options.
That being said, we pick out five items on the options list that we think are must-haves on the new Panamera.
1. Crayon Exterior Colour ($15,835)
For the brand new Porsche Panamera, you have a choice of a total of 16 different exterior colours, but 'Crayon' is the one to have. The name may be somewhat meaningless, and the colour on the Configurator slightly underwhelming, but this is certainly the colour to have. If we had to describe, it's something of a chalky grey/off-white.
Trust us, in the flesh, the 'Crayon' paintjob looks fantastic. It is unique yet understated, and gives the car an added dimension of character.

2. Adaptive air suspension including Porsche Active Suspension Management ($8,693)
Offering three toggle-able modes, the adaptive air suspension allows you to alter the dynamic behaviour of the car, ranging from a comfortable long-distance cruiser to a sharp corner bruiser.
This is part of what gives the car its dynamic Jekyll and Hyde character - allowing it to be a serene GT or a spritely sports car on demand, all toggle-able on the fly and in an instant.

3. Sport Chrono Package ($7,577)
With this package, you get an additional Sport Plus driving mode, which sharpens and intensifies the whole experience. Also, you can toggle the different modes using a mode switch dial on the steering wheel. Compared to pressing buttons on the centre console (which can be slightly fiddly), switching modes using the dial is much faster and more convenient, allowing you to jump between modes on the fly.
It also gives you launch control, which is always awesome.

4. Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist ($12,057)
Features seen on more and more cars these days, the two technologies combine to allow you a semi-autonomous drive. On highways, it's a mighty convenient feature, allowing you to cruise along with your hands on the wheel but you feet off the pedals.
You can set a fixed distance to the car in front of you, and let the car manage it's speed and acceleration. On the highway in Taiwan, this allowed us to bunch up and drive as a convoy with absolute ease.

5. Porsche Rear Seat Entertainment ($12,735)
The Porsche Rear Seat Entertainment system comprises of two high-resolution and anti-glare 10-inch touchscreen displays (which have a screen resolution of 1,920px x 1,200px) attached to the front seat backrests. Both Porsche Rear Seat Entertainment System units are removable, making them convenient to use outside the vehicle.
As you can quite imagine, this is certainly useful when you need to keep the kids entertained on the morning commute to school.
