I have used this since Feb 2013. Installation took 1 - 2 hours. Very neat and clean installation. Design looks sleek and does not draw too much attention as it is hidden behind the rear view mirror.
1 draw back is that when using it with a BMW, the car auto detects the power being used. So even before the Power Magic gets to do its job, the power has been cut off. Probably, I will need to meddle with the Power Magic settings.
Another bad point is that you need to immediately take out the car once and incident is recorded. Depends on the card size, it will override the footage once the card is full.
Most of the time, I tend to pull out the card 5 minutes later and the footage is no longer available.
What I like
- HD features
- Sleek design
What I do not like
- Uses a lot of power
- Price
- SD slot

I have bought this together with powermagic for DIY installation, i must say, installation is a breeze and it worked immediately.
After using it now for 1 year, i think this have outlasted all my other cheap DVRs that i have gotten over the years. This is a quality product that just works, and you dont even need for a replacement even after this long.
This is capable of recording in HQ videos and in the night. No problem of not being able to see the carplate numbers when reviewing footages.
Reviewing footages is easy with the built-in software. It shows the chronological order of the videos. The event that triggers the recording. (e.g. high G-forces, example braking will tag the video as an event). It also shows the g-forces (3 axis), speed, location (on top of google maps) where the video was taken. Lots of details available.
When installed with power-magic, which i did, i can leave the camera recording even when i am parking. It automatically cuts the power when batt voltage falls below a preset amount, this is so you wont have a flat battery when you are driving after parking for a few days.
I have also connected the video output to my Headunit for easy reference of what is being recorded.
The only drawback is the price, but again once i buy this, i know i never need to look for another.
One bad thing is the SD slot is not very properly flushed to the body, so i accidentally slipped a micro sd into a gap.
What I like
- video quality (day-night quality)
- built quality
- connectivity
What I do not like
- price
- SD slot

Review
I liked how this dashcam was super easy to install (the camera itself only took a couple of minutes, the other 15 was spent concealing the wire) and when it started running, I was really impressed by just how good the video and image quality is. The software is also fantastic as it allows me to track locations using Google Maps and there's even a 'stealth mode' where the usual recording on light is turned off for extra discreetness. The few gripes I have with this is that the camera tends to get hot after recording, and it behaves quite poorly when exposed to heat.
What I like
Easy to install. Very good video & image quality. Small and discreet size. Good software
What I do not like
Camera gets hot after recording. Performance seem bit affected when regularly exposed to heat.

BlackVue DR400G-HD has several advantages. First of all it is small and really easy mountable on the car screen, it is almost not visible while you are driving because it is hidden by rear-view mirror, you can just see LED that shows you mode of device. Video quality is good and could be played by any player that can play MP4. Also, when you insert SD card to the camera and start it it will place all software in it.
What I like
Ease of installation and good video quality.
What I do not like
Just 2 small disadvantages: not very loud sound recording and quite sensitive G sensor.

With our dashboard and console panel getting more and more similar with the plane where the pilot are flying with lotsa emergency button and landing buttons, cars are getting there own form of blackbox incase of times of turbulence. Blackvue did a very good job, with this simplistic design and high quality imaging processor. This tiny view cam can record up to 1080p. This mean if you met a road bully, you can trace him with his plate number using you blackvue DR400G HD, You can hire you own assasin later if you want. This camera also have a wide view angle which is good for close proximity range of viewing.
What I like
- Nice Design
- Wide Angle lens
- HD enable
- Easy to install
What I do not like
- No GPS
- No screen (which we no need)
- SD card must be Class 10 and above.
I installed this on
Toyota Corolla
