ZR 18W is a Hand-Crafted mid-woofer with the bass-range of a woofer and ultra-linear frequency characteristic up to 5 kHz. It is our very special product, because it has the same core as the legendary ZR 18DD.
Most of the building-parts are the same as on 18 DD, yet it has more "sweet-soft" sound with noticeably deeper bass. F-3 dB is one octave lower than 18DD, although the Fs and Vas are almost identical. With F-3dB that low, it is ideal for use in small monitor boxes and dipole configurations. Many requests for this speaker also came from High-End car-audio, where the lack of space represents a huge problem.
18W is also a brilliant as sub-woofer. It differs from other "heavy" subwoofers with its low-mass configuration, which results in immense accuracy and linearity. The array of 4x18W has approximately the same cone size as the 12'' subwoofer, but produces superior results.
The dynamic of this speaker is extraordinary. When the voice of the vocalist is loud and intense, it projects it perfectly and completely. Trough the sound of this speaker, you can feel the passion and power that he or she feels. When the voice of the vocalist is soft and gentle, it invokes the same sensitive emotions in you. The sound becomes quite and gentle, yet even the tiniest details can be heard. Sound-stage of this speaker could be compared with 3D glasses. You can suddenly see deeper than you've ever thought possible before.
