In-car camera records speeding car before ECP crash

The Straits Times reported that a video that captured the fatal crash along the East Coast Parkway (ECP) on Thursday has shed some light on how the accident happened.

It shows the white Volkswagen Golf speeding along the ECP on the rightmost lane and cutting across three lanes to the Marine Vista exit before it lost control and crashed. Occupants in the car that filmed the video can also be heard exclaiming at its speed.

The accident at dawn injured four people and killed two - local magazine publishing group director Jamie Ho, 33, and Ms. Chen Ren-Yi, 24, a Taiwanese.

Chinese evening daily Lianhe Wanbao reported that Ms. Chen's father was due to arrive in Singapore yesterday afternoon from Taiwan, and that she was working here.

The four survivors - three women and one man - are aged between 24 and 29. According to the Chinese local paper, the man needed surgery but is now conscious. The other three passengers are in stable condition.
