General Motors has announced that the Hummer EV Pickups have started to roll off the production line at Factory ZERO, and customer deliveries will soon begin.
The revolutionary GMC supertruck represents the first of many Ultium-based consumer vehicles to be produced as part of General Motors' vision for an all-electric future.
The production start for the all-electric truck is starting with the Edition 1 vehicles, which feature design touches including an Interstellar White exterior, and a unique Lunar Horizon interior. Built upon GM's new Ultium Platform, the Hummer is able to offer a General Motors estimated 1,000bhp and 15,590Nm of torque.
Signature features for the all-electric truck include four-wheel steering, which allows the rear wheels and front wheels to steer at the same angle at low speeds, enabling diagonal movement of the vehicle for even greater maneuverability on challenging terrain and adaptive air suspension, which can raise the vehicle by up to 149mm to negotiate extreme off-road situations such as clearing boulders or fording water.
The vehicle also comes with General Motor's Super Cruise feature, a driver-assistance technology that offers hands-free driving on more than 322,000km of enabled roads, and a new automatic lane changing feature, where the system can determine when a lane change is optimal and initiate the maneouver while following signalling protocols.
