Ford launches the new Mondeo Econetic

The latest model was revealed in the UK, and is called the Ford Mondeo Titanium Econetic 2.0 TDCi. Econetic is Ford-speak for a series of measures applied to the car in order to enhance efficiency and improve fuel economy, similar to Volkswagen’s BlueMotion system.

The new Mondeo Econetic comes in five-door hatchback or station wagon variants, and is powered by a 2.0 litre TDCi turbo diesel that produces 115bhp, and comes with a gear indicator to advise the driver to be in the right gear for optimal efficiency.

Other features to aid efficiency include an aerodynamically optimised sports suspension system, design features like air deflectors and spoilers to reduce aerodynamic drag and hence improve fuel economy, and lightweight 16-inch alloy rims, with 17-inch wheels as an option.
