Back again for its third year, the highly anticipated Singapore Motor Show 2017 saw a total of 200 vehicles on display, courtesy of 28 car brands. From high-performance sports cars, luxury sedans to Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV) and everything in between, it looks like an exciting year ahead for car enthusiasts. You'll also find Honda's all new, mind-blowing NSX on display. Unfortunately, BMW's eagerly awaited range of eDrive cars weren't present.
The Singapore Motor Show is on from 12th to 15th January 2017, at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre. Here are some of the highlights of the event.

Launching in Singapore for the first time, the Audi Q2 is powered by a 150bhp 1.4 TFSI engine, which features cylinder deactivation (cylinder on demand).
With the Q2's arrival in Singapore, Audi becomes the only car manufacturer to offer cylinder deactivation technology in four, eight, 10 and 12-cylinder engines.
The Audi Q2's 1.4 TFSI engine achieves a combined fuel consumption figure of 18.9km/L and a combined CO2 emissions figure of 122g/km.
The Audi Q2 1.4 TFSI COD is now available at the Audi Centre Singapore and is priced at $165,800, after COE and a CEVS rebate of $5,000.

The new Citroen C4 Picasso comes with new chrome detailing on the front bumper, a new chrome window trim, LED daytime running lights and 3D LED taillights. It comes equipped with Hill-Start Assist, rear parking sensors, a reverse camera and cruise control.
Standard features in the Grand C4 Picasso include wraparound driver and passenger relax headrests, and a lumbar massage function for extra comfort on long drives. The Citroen C4 Picasso is available in two variants: the C4 Picasso 1.6 BlueHDi 120 EAT6 ($115,988) and the C4 Picasso 1.6 BlueHDi 120 EAT6 - ML ($118,988). Prices include COE and a CEVS rebate of $15,000.
The Citroen Grand C4 Picasso comes in two variants: the Grand C4 Picasso 1.6 BlueHDi 120 EAT6 - ML ($131,988 with a $15,000 CEVS rebate) and the Grand C4 Picasso 1.6 THP 165 EAT6 - ML ($142,988 with a $5,000 CEVS rebate). Prices are inclusive of COE.

The DS 3 Cabrio has a soft top that can be operated at speeds of up to 110km/h and can be transformed into a convertible in 16 seconds. It remains true to DS's avant garde spirit with its design and is the first DS to feature the highly expressive DS LED Vision light signature - lighting technology pioneered by DS, which features a combination of LED and Xenon modules that reduce eye strain at night while using less energy.
The DS 3 Cabrio boasts a three-cylinder 1.2 Turbo PureTech engine, which produces 110bhp at 5,500rpm and 205Nm of torque at 1,500rpm, and is mated to a six-speed full automatic transmission. It accelerates to 100km/h in 9.6 seconds before reaching a top speed of 188km/h.
The DS 3 Cabrio 1.2 PureTech 110 EAT6 is priced at $126,988 (inclusive of COE), with a CEVS rebate of $10,000.

Komoco Motors, official dealer for Hyundai in Singapore, launched the Korean answer to the Toyota Prius at this year's Singapore Motor Show.
Called the Hyundai IONIQ, the car's name is a combination of the words 'ion', 'unique', and brings to light the car's clever combination of electrified powertrains and its unique place as the automaker's first entry into the expanding hybrid car market.
The all new IONIQ alternative-fuel compact vehicle is priced at $118,888 (inclusive of COE). The Open Market Value (OMV) for the 1.6-litre five-door hybrid is about $32,000. It eligible for a $30,000 Carbon Emissions-based Vehicle Scheme (CEVS) rebate, and comes with 10-year unlimited hybrid battery warranty and five years unlimited mileage warranty.

The all new Infiniti Q60 is being marketed as a premium sports coupe that combines expressive design with exhilarating performance and dynamics.
Playing a key role in achieving this balance is Infiniti's new Dynamic Digital Suspension (DDS), engineered to offer direct handling responses and high agility, and enhanced ride comfort - aided by new electronic and adaptive dampers.
The new Q60 is expected to be launched in Singapore by the end of 2017's first quarter and will be available in a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine, while a 3.0-litre turbo Red Sport 400 variant will be available on an indent basis.
The Q60 will start official sales in March pending homologation.

Making sure to leave an impression, Lexus officially launched its facelifted Lexus IS. Blessed with an aggressively restyled front fascia, and a triple-layered 'L'-shaped LED rear lighting signature, the refreshed IS combines head-turning illumination and thrilling performance.
The interior design has also been thoughtfully and intelligently upgraded to include a 10.3-inch Electro Multi-Vision (EMV) display screen. It is powered by the brand's proprietary 2.0-litre twin-scroll turbocharged engine that produces 241bhp and 350Nm of torque. Mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, the IS Turbo completes its century sprint in seven seconds.
At press time, the Lexus IS Turbo Executive costs $196,000 (inclusive of COE), has an OMV of $38,429 and falls under the neutral band in the CEVS.

Mazda kicked 2017 off with a bang, by unveiling the highly anticipated MX-5 Retractable Fastback (RF) alongside the all new CX-9 Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV).
Based on the Roadster compact open-top sports car, the RF is the latest model and is equipped with a power retractable hardtop roof. Offering a new dimension of open-top driving fun, the roof adds rougly 45kg worth of weight to the MX-5 over the soft top. Stiffer suspension is used to balance the weight distribution of the MX-5 RF without sacrificing the driving experience.
The MX-5 RF is currently undergoing homologation (a process that ensures cars are suitable for use on Singapore roads) and is expected to go on sale in the third quarter of 2017. Because it is essentially the same car but with a retractable roof, Mazda has released preview prices for the RF, which start from $175,800 for the SkyActiv Drive six-speed automatic and $172,800 for the manual.

The Mitsubishi ASX boasts the company's new Dynamic Shield front design concept, which symbolises the functionality and reassuring safety inherent to Mitsubishi Motors' SUVs. It has also been refined for improved on-road performance, with MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspensions, as well as tuned shock absorbers and stabilisers.
Mated to an INVECS-III Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with six-speed Sports Mode, the ASX is powered by a 2.0-litre MIVEC engine, producing 150bhp and 197Nm of torque. Mitsubishi is offering a 10-year/200,000km engine warranty and a comprehensive five-year unlimited mileage warranty, whichever comes first.
The Mitsubishi ASX 2.0 is priced at $121,999, inclusive of COE and CEVS rebates.

Nissan launched the 2017 Pulsar, a hatchback featuring a 1.2-litre turbocharged engine mated to Nissan's Xtronic CVT transmission, in conjunction with the Note at the event. The engine produces 113bhp and 165Nm of torque while achieving an estimated fuel consumption figure of 18.7km/L and CO2 emissions of 119g/km, which makes it eligible for a $10,000 CEVS rebate.
The Nissan Pulsar boasts 692mm of rear legroom, thanks to its 2,700mm wheelbase and 385 litres of boot space, which expands to 1,395 litres with the rear seats folded. It also comes with features like an intelligent key system with push start ignition and a 6.9-inch high-capacitive touchscreen interface.
Nissan is offering two variants of the Pulsar: 1.2 DIG-Turbo Lite, which starts from $106,300, and 1.2 DIG-Turbo Premium, which starts from $109,300. Prices include COE and CEVS rebates.

Vantage Automotive, Peugeot's official dealer in Singapore, showcased the French brand's all new 3008 SUV at the Singapore Motor Show.
Marketed as the most advanced vehicle offered by the brand to date, the new 3008 comes with a longer wheelbase and an overall length 80mm longer than the current model.
Very High Strength Steel and Ultra High Strength Steel have been used in the vehicle's construction, with a thermoplastic boot floor, tailgate, aluminium wings, front suspension arms and rear seat frames.
We were told that the 3008 will be officially launched in April or May this year, and will come in 1.2-litre and 1.6-litre petrol engines as well as a 1.6-litre diesel engine.

With design cues inspired by Renault Sport, the dynamic all new Megane GT was introduced at the Singapore Motor Show alongside sibling model, the Megane GT-Line.
From the outside, the design of both variant's front bumper features a wide honeycomb lower grille flanked by front aerodynamic air guides. At the rear, the diffuser takes its inspiration from the world of Formula One. The GT comes with a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine while the GT-Line gets a 1.5-litre turbocharged powerplant.
The Megane GT is priced at $138,999 (inclusive of COE), has an OMV of $25,690 and a $5,000 CEVs rebate. The GT-Line, on the other hand, is priced at $114,999 (inclusive of COE), has an OMV of $22,800 and a CEVS rebate of $30,000.

Launched at the Singapore Motor Show 2017, the fifth generation Subaru Impreza is the first Subaru model to employ the new Subaru Global Platform, which also made its debut at the event.
The new Subaru Global Platform underpins the car's boxer engine, all-wheel drive and safety features like the Subaru Rear/Side Vehicle Detection and Steering Responsive Head Lights. It is also adaptable to alternative power units like hybrids, plug-in hybrids and electric cars; which is Subaru's way of future-proofing its next generation of vehicles.
Four variants are available for the Subaru Impreza - 2.0i-S 4D AWD CVT ($123,800), 2.0i-S 5D AWD CVT ($124,800), 4D 1.6i-S AWD CVT ($106,800) and 5D 1.6i-S AWD CVT ($107,800). Prices include COE and CEVS rebates.

Champion Motors shipped over a specially dressed up version of the all new Ignis from Japan, just for the Singapore Motor Show preview.
This eye-catching compact crossover combines retro futuristic styling with present day functionality and practicality. Champion Motors has yet to confirm whether a hybrid version will be coming.
But for now, representatives say that the variant Singapore will be getting will be powered by a 1.2-litre, four cylinder in-line petrol engine.
We're told that pricing of the Ignis will be close to the Swift 1.4, and we can expect the unique city car to be launched here officially during the second half of this year.

Official dealer for Singapore - Borneo Motors - previewed Toyota's all new C-HR, giving the Japanese automaker a powerful new presence in the popular SUV segment.
The C-HR or Coupe-High Rider made its debut at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show and was designed to stand out from both within the Toyota lineup and its rivals like the Honda HR-V and the Nissan Juke.
According to its Chief Engineer Hiroyuki Koba, the C-HR's driving dynamics have been calibrated according to 'response, linearity and consistency'. It will be front-wheel drive, and powered by a new 1.2-litre turbo engine.
The C-HR is currently undergoing homologation, but Borneo Motors will be announcing the C-HR's official launch date as early as next month.

The new Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet stays true to Volkswagen DNA, with an instrument cluster and glovebox reminiscent of the first air-cooled Beetle. Volkswagen's K-fold feature allows the car's weather-proof fabric roof to be stowed away in a compact space, allowing for 225 litres of boot space.
The Beetle Cabriolet comes with a 1.2-litre four-cylinder TSI engine, which produces 104bhp and 175Nm of torque, mated to a quick-shifting seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DSG). It completes the century sprint in 11.7 seconds before moving up to a top speed of 178km/h.
The turbocharged engine achieves fuel consumption figures of 16.9km/L, with a CO2 emission value of 139g/km. As a Singapore Motor Show 2017 special promotion, the Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet will be priced at $130,900 (inclusive of COE) from now till 18th January 2017 at 12:00pm. It has an OMV of $23,000 and an ARF value of $25,000.

Now on display at the Volvo booth, the Volvo V90 made its first appearance during the reopening of the new Volvo showroom back in November last year.
The stylish and versatile V90 is the latest in the premium carmaker's top-of-the-line 90 series, and sits alongside the XC90 SUV and the S90 saloon. Building on Volvo Cars' indisputable heritage in the estate segment, the new V90 takes the premium estate a step forward in terms of aesthetics, materials, finish, while living up to the ultimately practical nature of any true estate.
