A high performance Cortex A8 core CPU ensures a stable and uninterrupted performance while the F550 performs various tasks. Developed as a high-end processor, this A8 processor has been extensively tested and proven in many applications, such as tablet computers and smartphones.
Access Driving Information with GPS
With a built-in GPS antenna, the F550 can embed time, speed, and location data into recorded footages to provide additional information surrounding an event – which could be crucial for insurance reports. The user can also review their driving history with the Google Maps integrated with the PC / Mac Viewer.
The feature is only available for models equipped with a built-in GPS antenna, or with an external GPS antenna as an optional accessory.
Thinkware Proprietary Technology: Dual Save
The Dual Save technology is specially designed to save recorded footages in both the Micro SD card and the built-in internal memory in incident recording, safeguarding against the loss of data in the aftermath of a severe collision. In the event that the memory card is damaged, the Dual Save Technology guarantees a backup copy of the video in the internal memory.
* The Dual Save Technology is activated when a certain level of impact is detected (Impact sensitivity is adjustable using the PC / Mac Viewer).
Accelerometer G-Sensor
The Active Impact Monitoring System utilises a 3-axis G-Sensor to continuously monitor any impact to the vehicle, and triggers the incident recording mode whenever an impact is registered.
Easy-to-Use, Highly Functional Viewer
With the Thinkware PC Viewer, you can access the recorded videos with time, speed, and location data on your PC or Mac computer. You may also use the application to configure the device, as well as accessing firmware upgrades.
Various Autonomous Recording Modes
The F550 supports various recording modes that you can use according to your needs: Continuous Recording, Incident Recording, Motion Detection Recording, and Manual Recording.
Continuous Recording Mode - This mode is activated automatically when you start the engine. Recorded videos are saved in one-minute segments with an auto-looping mechanism.
Incident Recording Mode - The Active Impact Monitoring System will automatically store the ten seconds prior and after a collision registered by the 3-axis G-Sensor.
Parking Surveillance Mode - The F550 can support a parking surveillance mode that monitors your vehicle when the ignition is off. A combination of motion detection and impact monitoring is used to protect your car from hit-and-run incidents. * This feature is only available when installed using the optional hardwiring cable. Professional installation is highly recommended.
Manual Recording - Similar to a video camera, you can use the Manual Recording Mode to capture events that occurs in front of you even if your vehicle is not involved. You can also use this feature to capture special moments, such as a falling meteor or a herd of bison crossing the road.

The chart is an approximation of recording duration in accordance to the video quality and the capacity of the Micro SD memory card. Actual recording times may vary.

Security LED
From 13 different LED lamps, you can identify Thinkware DASH CAM F550's present status easily and accurately. It may remind you of KITT, the advanced, artificially intelligent car from Knight Rider, an American television series. The nine security LED lamps at the front indicate its operation and monitoring status helping you prevent criminal attempts when your car is parked. The four LED lamps on the back show the status of the rear view camera, system, GPS, and recording modes.

Anti-Vibration Mounting

With its specially designed heat discharge construction and a built-in thermal sensor, the F550 protects itself and its data against intense heat by automatically turning off to prevent device overheating.
Fail-Safe Recording
In the event that the power is lost after an accident, the F550’s fail-safe recording uses the Super Capacitor to ensure that any recording in progress is stored properly – so you can be assured that the data is securely stored under any unexpected circumstances.

This is an impressive dash cam which is able to provide valuable data and complete footage with fail-safes such as locking down footage before/after an incident and shock-proofing.
